After wandering through the narrow cobbled streets he came across the Elephant tower which was built to protect the Castello. Built in 1307 the portcullis still has vicious looking spikes hanging down.
Also in that area is the "Frati Minori cappuccini di Sardegna e Corsica" which is an impressive looking church.
Later on in the morning we walked over to Cagliari train station and decided to take the train to the town of Iglesias. The journey takes about an hour and the trains are modern, comfortable and pretty cheap.
We thought the streets would be decorated with colourful hanging umbrellas, but there was hardly an umbrella to be seen. We assumed that we were too early in the season.
