The Train to Sassari

Rob started off the day with a early morning walk over to Cagliari marina and there were some very impressive boats moored up.

The City was just waking up as Rob walked through  the streets and the early morning sun rose above the buildings

We then walked over to Cagliari train station to catch our train to the town of  Sassari.

The trip lasted just over three hours and it was a comfortable journey due to Tranitalia's modern trains. The train weaves it way through picturesque countryside, climbing hills and dropping into valleys.

We arrived in Sassari and hoped in a cab to our rented apartment by Piazza Domenico Alberto Azuni. After settling in we walked over to Piazza Castello where numerous food stalls had been set up.

We continued onto Piazza Italia where preparations we taking place for the , Cavalcata Sarda, a huge annual festival that was due to take place on the weekend.

In the evening we walked over to Piazza  Tola where we had a drink at Bar Daniele before having a lovely, tapas type dinner at Taverna Santona.

We then over to Piazza Italia to watch a couple of live bands on the main stage, before wandering home after a long day.
