Tredegar park and a kind of birthday bash

On a beautiful, crisp morning we made our way over to Tredegar park, situated just outside Newport. We began with a walk through the grounds and around the lake, there was plenty of wildlife about including squirrels, ducks and swans.

We then popped into the tea room for a warming cup of coffee and a scone with jam and cream. We then wandered around the Farmer's market and bought some local cheeses and chutneys.

In the afternoon we were invited around to Sarah and Lee's house where they had prepared a small birthday party called "Rob's 59 and three quarter birthday bash". The house was decorated with banners and balloons and Andrew make three lovely curries.

Jude and Cari stole the show as usual and helped serve the impressive birthday cake, Rob had a superb day surrounded by his family.

Driving to Wales

The next morning we were up bright and early and greeted by a sunny, mild morning. We picked up our hire car and drove towards Bristol which has an impressive skyline, made even more so by a spectacular rainbow. We crossed over the Severn bridge and noticed that this will be last time that bridge tolls will be collected.

We booked into our rented apartment that sits just outside Newport. In the afternoon we drove over to visit Sarah, Lee and the two kids Jude and Cari.
We spent a lovely afternoon with them catching up with all the family News and Sarah made us a lovely dinner.

We then went to see the movie, Bohemian rhapsody, the story of the rock group, Queen and Freddie Mercury, we all thought it was a superb film.

An Autumn visit to the UK

On a clear evening with a beautiful sunset, we took off from Paphos airport for a whistle stop visit to the UK to catch up with the family. The easyjet flight to Bristol was very smooth and took 4 hours 55  minutes.

We arrived in Bristol to be met by rain and a very chilly breeze. We made the short journey to our overnight accommodation at The Forge.

Piers Taverna in Avdimou

Friday evening saw us make our way over to the village of Avdimou, which lies just a couple of miles outside of Pissouri. We visited the newly refurbished "Piers taverna".
This taverna used to be the "Famagusta taverna" but has had a complete overhaul and we received a warm welcome from Andrea, Steve and the family.
