A Night of Greek music

 The Symposium restaurant in Pissouri square was the venue for a night of Greek music with Evagoras Evagorou and his band of talented musicians. 

Along with Steve and Mary we enjoyed a superb night of food, wine, music and plenty of laughs along the way. 

The Bunch of Grapes and some Dashcam Views

On a beautiful, Summer's evening we made our way down to the "Bunch of Grapes " restaurant in Pissouri. We met up with Richard,  JD, Joey,  Ken and Ann.

All of our meals were superb, as was the setting, the service and the company.

We fitted a Dashcam to our car for safety reasons,  but one of the by products of this camera is that it gives us some great views of the coastal road that leads into Pissouri.

 

It also give you a feeling for the narrow roads that run through our Cypriot village.

Pissouri Wine Fair and a 60th Birthday

The Pissouri amphitheatre was the venue for this year's Pissouri wine fair. A number of local wineries set up stands to hand out samples of their wines. 

Local musicians and dancers kept the crowd entertained through the evening and there was a wonderful atmosphere between locals and visitors. 

The Following evening Mandy joined Pete and Tania at the Ampeli restaurant in Pissouri Bay to help celebrate Jackie's 60th Birthday.

The Mystery Bus trip

                  

The 2023 Pissouri Mystery Bus trip started with 43 residents meeting at The Two friends taverna. We set off heading for the Troodos mountains.

Our first stop was at the village of Argos where we visited a workshop that made traditional sweets. Our host Nikki gave us an informative talk on the process of the sweet making with rose petals and walnuts.

We then moved on down the hill to the "Rose Factory" where they use rose petals to make all manner of products including rose water, candles and cosmetics.

Our next stop was at the Gerolemo winery near the village of Omodos. Our host gave us a very entertaining  talk on the variety of wines that they produce.

We tasted six different wines and a Zouvenia.

Most of the visitors bought several bottles of wine.

Our final stop of the day was at the Anagyris restaurant near the village of Anoyra. This is where the guests enjoyed a splendid buffet lunch washed down with a bottle of local wine.

Stardust show in Peyia

 Mandy and The Golden girls made their way over to Peyia to see The Stardust Drag show. The Girls had a wonderful time watching this superb show, they laughed so much that it left them breathless at times.

An old School friend from Cardiff visits Paphos.

 We drove over to Paphos (Cyprus) to meet up with Rob's old school friend, Mike and his wife, Kath. The guys had not seen each other for somewhere in the region of 35 years.

We spent the afternoon and evening just catching up on the lost years and having a 100 laughs at our old memories.

We dined at a restaurant next to the hotel called La Place  Royale and the food and service were excellent. 

Our base for our short stay was the Dionysos central Hotel which has a lovely courtyard and gardens which offers a quiet haven from the busy streets of Paphos.

Nissan Note arrives & In for a Penny

 This week we took possession of a new car, a 2019 Nissan Note. We traded in our old Toyota Rav that was feeling its age and had become a thirsty vehicle. 

Well June has arrived and there still no sign of the hot Summer weather in Cyprus. The days are warm  but not hot and the evening breeze can still feel a bit chilly. 

Meanwhile,  back in South Wales,  Lisa took part in the TV Game show "In for a Penny" where she had to complete a lap of an ice rink.
