2016 Barbados

Our base for our stay in  Barbados  wasThe sea Breeze Hotel on the South coast of the Island. We were soon in the beautiful Caribbean sea. The beach adjacent to the hotel is quality, with lovely white sand, the sea can kick up on this side of the island but that's just an excuse to ride the "Boogie Boards". In the evening we had dinner in the Mermaid restaurant and the listened to a local trio in the hotel's lounge.

Day 2.
On a hot morning we spent our time around the pool before we were hit by a tropical downpour of rain, so we took shelter and enjoyed the hotel's tea and scones hour.

Once the rains passed we watched two of our fellow guests get married on the beach. In the evening we went to the hotel managers cocktail party and met Ian and Rosemary from London.

Day 3.
We jumped on the "Reggie" bus into Bridgetown, we loved walking around this colourful town with so many smiling faces. The local markets were a joy to stroll around with such friendly people.

We stopped off at the marina for a bite to eat and watched the deep sea fishing boats come, the crew gutted the day's catch and we saw turtles surfacing.

Day 4.
It poured down with rain in the morning so we hopped on a Reggie bus a took a trip to the village of Oistens, which was just a couple of miles down the road. Oistins is the main fishing village on the Island.
We walked around the impressive fish market and had a laugh with the locals, took a stroll on the pier and saw a couple of turtles coming up for air.

Day 5.
We woke up to a beautiful sunny morning and joined the "Cool Runnings" Catamaran which left from Bridgetown harbour, we sailed to Carlisle Bay and snorkelled on two wrecks that were abundent with fish And crystal clear water. We then sailed over to another spot where we were lucky to swim and snorkel with turtles.
These wonderful animals looked an moved with such grace that it was a pleasure to watch them. We then set sail up the Western coast of the island and anchored off in a secluded bay where a truly superb lunch was served.

Then as we sailed for home the party atmosphere kicked in with the help of a few rum punches. We both agreed that the Cat's staff were superb in looking after their guests and being so informative on the cruise. In the evening we watched a duo called "Two guitars" who entertained the hotel's guests with some great tunes.

Day 6.
We made our way back over to Oistens to see the famous "fish fry", there are lots of small huts preparing and cooking the days catch. The place is packed with both visitors and locals and large stage area for music and dancing.

Day 7.
So we come to our final day in Barbados, We have had a truly memorable trip, saw some glorious places and met some lovely people.  Now for the long trip home, but not before one last visit to the beach and a swim in that wonderful Caribbean sea.

Last night we had a very nice meal in the Azul restaurant as the waves crashed into the sea wall behind us. We then made our way back to the airport for our flight to London.
