Steve's Birthday 2008


To celebrate Steve's birthday, we had a few drinks in the Pissourianna with Steve's buddies.


We then went to the newly refurbished Stone house restaurant in the small village of Paramali. The home cooked food was excellent and our host, Panicos, made us very welcome.

1911 Darts competition

The 1911 club hosted a darts competition. A good crowd turned up and over 20 teams took part in the event. The winning team of Sheen & Brian overcame the pre tournament favourites of Matt and Damon as some good natured banter took place between the matches.

Golf Lessons at Aphrodite Hills

We took the opportunity to attend an open day at Aphrodite Hills golf Course. We were given an hours golf lesson by club professional, Russell and then entered a putting competition.

We ended our afternoon enjoying a BBQ and a drink overlooking the 18th.

Yannis Bithday Party


We were kindly invited to a double birthday party, Yannis and Paul both celebrated their respective birthday with a bash at Yannis house.
The guests enjoyed superbly cooked food and wine and music coming from Yannis American style jukebox.

Two Years Living in Cyprus


Today we celebrate two years of living in Cyprus , we cannot believe how quickly the time has passed. We have loved living in Pissouri, made countless friends and enjoyed every moment of living on the Island.

A visit to the Circus










On a beautifully mild evening we drove into Limassol to see the Medrano Circus, we all thought that the Italian Circus was highly entertaining.

We then strolled in the old port of Limassol and enjoyed alfresco meal at Mikri Maria taverna where the owner, Aphrodite, sang songs, played the guitar and entertained us with tales of bygone days in Limassol.

Lisa's Birthday 2008


On Saturday we popped down the Pissouriana to watch the football and meet the locals, Lisa and Dan ended up at the Red Fever and trundled home in the early hours of the morning .



On Sunday it was time to celebrate Lisa’s birthday, we started off with drinks around at Steve and Mary’s house, we were joined by Debbie, Colin and Theo. We then headed up to the Hillview restaurant for Sunday lunch and chocolate birthday cake.






Cyprus Night

We took the short drive to Aphrodite’s rock for a photo op before making our way to the town of Paphos.

We started the weekend witha trip to the Vineleaf tavern in Pissouri bay to take in the weekly Cypriot night show. The show consists of traditional Cypriot dancing, a belly dancer and disco.

Visitors from the Diff










Lisa, Jo and Dan flew in to Paphos from Cardiff ,UK for a weeks holiday. On their first day we went to Aphrodite's rock, a visit to Paphos and then took the short drive to Kyrenia beach for dinner as the sunset over the Mediterranean sea.

The next day we drove them up to Latchi for a boat trip along the Arkamas coast and a swim in the Blue lagoon.

A girls night out



A girls night out was organised at The Hillview restaurant and after their success at the Amphitheatre, Abbadabbadoo returned to Pissouri to entertain the locals.

Pam's 60 th Birday at the 1911 club


Pam’s 60th Birthday Party was held at the 1911 residents club, over 50 guests enjoyed one of Arthur's special dinners of chicken curry and Faggots. The musical entertainment was provided by Jo King who soon had the guests on the dance floor and belting out a few karaoke tunes.

Jan's Birthday 2008

To Celebrate Jan's birthday, her friends held a surprise birthday party at Sheena and Brian's house. The birthday girl was surprised to see her friends gathered on the porch and after a champagne toast, the guests were treated to a dinner of one of Arthur's famous curries.

Lee's Boxing bout

News reaches us from Cardiff, UK, that Lee has won his second amateur boxing bout. Lee admitted that he started the fight slowly and was caught off guard with a punch that opened up a nasty cut on his nose. Lee managed to regain his composure and stopped his opponent at the end of the second round.

Our 4 th Wedding Anniversary









To mark Our fourth wedding anniversary we went to the Olympus palace restaurant in Pissouri. Steve and Mary came along to help us celebrate,

Steve's brother, Colin, his wife Moria and son, Liam also came along to enjoy the wonderful food and festive atmosphere.

At the end of the evening we were invited by the owner to indulge in some Greek dancing, not a pretty sight !

Austrian Orchestra in Pissouri


Over 40 musicians of the Austrian orchestra, WK LAUFEN GMUNDEN ENGELHOF performed at the Pissouri amphitheatre. The young and impressive orchestra music played a variety of music from Bach to Gilbert O’Sullivan.

President in Plataniskia











Intending to have a quiet meal with friends we drove up
to The Plataniskia tavern which is situated in a small hamlet a couple of miles North of Pissouri. As we drove into the small village we were surprised to see hundreds of people gathered, a number of Police and three large cars with blacked out windows. We were told that the President of Cyprus was there to open a new museum telling the history of printing in Cyprus
