Cyprus Night in Pissouri

We made our way down to Pissouri village square to attend our first "Cyprus Night" of the Summer.

The highlight of the evening was a young man named, Andreas, who showed off his superb skills on the Bouzuoki.

Of course, they always get some clown out of the Audience to make a fool of themselves and on this occasion they picked on "Yours Truly"

Cyprus and the Syrian crisis

Once again the Island of Cyprus hits the International News headlines, this time regarding the ongoing crisis in Syria. According to the Cyprus Mail.......

"Britain is sending six RAF Typhoon jets to Cyprus as a defensive measure amid growing tensions over Syria and talks of Western military intervention. Cyprus is a mere 100km from the Syrian coast and the city of Latakia, Assad’s hometown and recently re-captured by government forces.

With two sovereign bases in Cyprus, the UK is also taking steps to increase security and military forces on the island. While the Cypriot Foreign Minister, Ioannis Kasoulides has stated that he does not expect the UK sovereign bases to play a major part in a military strike, it seems naïve to think so."

Rising Temps, Curries and a Drag show.

As we come in to August, once again the temps in Cyprus begin to rise and the ever present threat of Scrub fires is only too real.

Stags, Wibbles and a Michael Buble tribute

News reaches us from the UK about Lee's Stag weekend to Kilkenny in Ireland. Lee's friends dressed him up in a shocking Pink outfit as a Jedward (popular Irish duo) fan. I am sure that he got plenty of strange looks at Cardiff and Dublin airport.

On Friday evening with went over to Sheena and Bryan's house for a lovely meal and we even learnt what a "Wibble" was.

On Saturday night we trundled down to the 1911 club to watch a Michael Buble tribute act.

On Sunday we drove out to Curium beach for a relaxing lunch, a bask in the sun and a cooling swim in the Med.

Just a quick mention for the "Bluebirds Unite" action group who are trying to reinstate the traditional Blue shirts to Cardiff City Football club.

On our first day we made our way the Harbour to join Aphrodite II, which is a boat that makes its way from Ayia Napa to the Ghost town of Famagusta.

The boat also visits the sea caves on he coast and Cape Greco which is the most Easterly point of the European Union.

In the Evening we returned to the harbour and had a lovely meal at the Isaac tavern.

The Next day were drove along the coast to Kermia beach, this is a Private resort but we strolled down to the beach, snagged a couple of sunbeds and swam in the Crystal clear waters of the Lagoon.
