A Hen in Spain and a Family Wedding

News reaches us from the UK about Lisa's Hen week in Spain. Along with several friends, the bride to  be headed out to the Spanish coast for a week of fun. The big surprise was when Lisa'a mum and Auntie Cheryl arrived unannounced.

On her return from Spain, Lisa and Andrew attended a family wedding in Cardiff. Lisa wore a sari following the traditions of the groom.

The Summer Quiz and Pool Party

Friday evening saw us pitch up at The Hillview restaurant for the Summer quiz. Out of sixteen teams, our team, "Mou Mou's Monsters" came a respectable fourth.

On a beautiful Summer's evening we attended a pool party at a friend's house. After a refreshing dip in the pool, the guests enjoyed the delicious food.

High Temperatures and Pissouri from the air

As the Month of May ends with temperature climbing into the 30's, here is a video of our Village of Pissouri and the surrounding area shot from the air.

Cari's second birthday and Lunch at Ampeli

Today our Goddaughter, Cari, celebrated her second birthday.

On Sunday we made our way over to the Ampeli restaurant in Pissouri bay. We enjoyed a cooling drink on the patio where we were grateful for a cooling breeze. We then had a lovely souvla (bbq) lunch.

Sheena's Birthday BBQ, Craft group and KB beach.

On a warm, Sunday afternoon we were invited over to celebrate Sheena's birthday at her house. Bryan fired up the bbq and the guests enjoyed the wonderful food.

Wednesday saw Mandy joining here craft group, "Knit and natter" at the Panorama cafe.

In the evening we met up with our ex neighbours , Tina and Mike at the Kyrenia beach taverna. The taverna sits right on a  quite beach ant the sea that evening was flat calm.

Warm Weather, Lunch in Kouklia and the Bluebirds go down fighting.

On Sunday, we noticed that  Summer seems to finally have arrived in Cyprus and the temperatures rose into the Mid 20's and weather is predicted to rise even higher as the week progresses. 
We drove over to the village of Kouklia for a Mother's day lunch at the Efraim Tavern. The standard of the food was exceptional.

A quick Nod to our Football team, Cardiff City. This time last year they were promoted to the UK Premier League, today they were relegated back to the Championship, but not without a fighting 2-0 win at Manchester United.

The Magical Mystery Tour 2019.

For this years Mystery tour, we set off from Pissouri and headed East towards the town of Limassol where we stopped off to visit a local pottery workshop.

Our next port of call was the Katarina traditional food centre where we were given an interesting  talk on the history of traditional Cypriot food.






















We then moved onto the 3 Barrels grape farm where we tasted a number of
Local wines, spirits and some homemade snacks.

Our final stop was at the village of Lania, a picturesque village where a number of artists have their workshops.  Sadly the weather was against is when a light shower began to fall.....So we took refuge  in a beautifully shaded courtyard in the Walnut taverna for a well deserved pre lunch drink. We then took the short stroll to the Lania taverna, where we enjoyed a lovely, local  Meze with a glass of wine.






















Around 4.00 pm we set off for our journey home through the foothills of the Troodos, the dark clouds gathered overhead but by the time we reached Pissouri the clouds parted and the sun shone on Pissouri.

Easter Monday and A blast off

The 1911 club in Pissouri was the venue for the Easter Monday BBQ. Freshly cooked food and entertainment by Ben Mills made sure that the day went with a  swing.

Meanwhile, back in the UK, our Little Cari learns how to do a rocket countdown.

Pissouri residents demonstrate

There was a large turnout of Pissouri residents who were demonstrating  about the active landslide that had caused horrendous problems to houses and infrastructure in the Limnes area of the village.

The demonstrators met at a bridge that passes over the main highway and draped banners over the bridge, some then made their way down to the highway to hold up traffic. 

A long winter and migrating butterflies.

After the glorious weather on our visit to the UK we returned to Cyprus  to find that there is still no sign of Spring  beginning.  We have  had  a very long, wet Winter this year in Cyprus,  some reports say the worst  for over 30 years.

This week, in this part of the island we  have seen huge swarms of pink lady butterflies  migrating from  Africa. The numbers were said to be in the hundreds of millions.
