Martin and Donna's Christmas drinks

On Saturday evening we were  kindly invited to Martin and Donna's house for pre Christmas drinks, their house stands on hill overlooking Pissouri and has commanding views of the surrounding area.

Dinner at Bryan and Sheena's

Continuing the early Christmas theme, we were kindly invited to their house for a Christmas dinner, we were joined by Jane and Arthur. Sheena cooked up a superb Turkey and Duck dinner.

A blast of cold air has hit Cyprus this week with temperatures plummeting downwards. On the plus side the Troodos mountains look very picturesque from our living room.

Bon Voyage

To wish the lads farewell and a safe trip back to Sweden, we had a few friends around.

Johan, Robin and a Trip up North

Johan and Robin flew in from Sweden for a week's visit. Due to the fact that they will not be here for Christmas we decided to make their first Sunday here "Christmas Day".

We then decided to take a trip up to Norther Cyprus and visited the town of Kyrenia. Our first stop was the picturesque Harbour.

We then wandered up to Bellapais Monastery  which  is located at the foot of the Five Finger Mountain Range with panoramic views of Kyrenia Town and its new harbour. The Monastery is situated approximately 2 miles from Kyrenia Town.

Our final stop was the ruined castle of St Hilarion which also lies just outside Kyrenia in the Five finger Mountain range. The position of the Castle gives superb views along the Northern coastline of Cyprus.

Jogging and Grates

There has been a very good response to the registration to the Legion run from the Pissouri fitness group, our team will be caller "Pissouri Nutters" which seems quite apt for the challenge that awaits us.
With the need to get fitter, we took a trip to one of our local beaches to do some jogging, a perfect place to run and during the rest breaks we watched the waves crash against the rocks.

Preparing for Winter, it was time to repair the grate in the open fire, the steelwork had rotted away after years of use. A big Thank you to Bryan for all his welding skills

Pissouri Fitness and The Legion Run

A new fitness group called The Pissouri Fitness Group has started up in the village. The group is run by Stuart Burling and is open to people of all levels of fitness, be prepared to sweat and work. The sessions are held in an informal and enjoyable atmosphere.

On Friday evening we made our way to the Saffron Indian restaurant in Pissouri bay where  we joined by some of the regulars of the Pissouri Fitness group. We enjoyed a few well earned drinks and a superb curry.

One of the items under discussion was the possible entry of the group into The Legion run which takes place in Larnaca, Cyprus in March 2014. A lot of preparation regarding fitness will be needed by the members of the group who sign up for the event.

The Legion Run is a 5 km over a variety of obstacles, including fire, barbed wire and water filled tunnels, it all takes place on a very muddy course.

Fire Wood and MS Queen Elizabeth

We drove over to Fasouri wood Yard (just outside Limassol) to top up our logs for our fire for this coming Winter.

The Weather in Cyprus for the last 6 weeks has been absolutely  beautiful but we know that Winter will soon be with us and those temperatures will drop.

We then went over to Lady's Mile beach for a breath of fresh air and we noticed that the huge Cruise Liner, MS  Queen Elizabeth had docked in Limassol Port.

This  Cunard ship is Huge at 92,000 Gross tonnage and its a very impressive ship.

The Rat Pack Returns

The Rat Pack show made a return to Pissouri as they brought their show to the Vineleaf taverna in Pissouri bay. The trio kept a packed house entertained with all the old hits.

Halloween and Fireworks

We made our way over to the military base at Episkopi to see the annual bonfire and firework show. A large crowd enjoyed a great firework show and the lighting of the traditional Bonfire.

We returned to Pissouri and went to the Iron Horse bar where they were holding a Halloween party, they were some superb costumes.
