Bluebirds back in Blue

Great News reach us from our Old football club, Cardiff City,after several years of acrimony between the Club's owner and the Club's fanbase/supporters over the change from our traditional Blue colours to hated the Red strip
Today the owner decided to revert the club back to Blue and reinstate the Bluebird badge.

Stormy Weather

The New Year started with heavy storms lashing the Island of Cyprus. Pissouri itself was battered by high winds and torrential rain for two days.
The Troodos mountain region experienced freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall.

The Limassol area was hit by flash floods

2015 A New Year begins

Wishing you all a Happy and healthy New Year. Its hard to believe that we are starting the tenth year of this blog, it only seems like yesterday that we began planning and writing about living in Cyprus. How time flies by. 

Its been a bit of a rollercoaster ride but we realise how lucky we have been to enjoy this part of our lives.  Well thats enough of looking back, its time to look forward to this new year.

Christmas in Cyprus

         A very Merry Christmas to all our Family, Friends and visitors to the Blog .

Christmas eve began with a couple of drinks in the Pissouri square bar, we then moved onto the O'Vraka restaurant for a lovely meal. After dinner we were entertained by the superb Chris King and "Sticky Vicky".























On Christmas day  the weather was absolutely  beautiful and we walked down to Pissouri square where we had some pre dinner drinks before we made our way over to the "Bunch of Grapes" restaurant with our friends Alan and Jill. We all agreed that the five course Christmas dinner was one of the finest we had tasted. There was a small drama when a servette caught fire from a candle.

We then strolled upto the Olympus palace, the place was packed with party revellers.

Christmas week and The Smartphone.

The week started with a trip to Limassol to the "My Mall" shopping center. 

Mandy wanted to join the era of the smartphone, and so after looking at a number of models she selected the Samsung Galaxy core.

Early Christmas Lunch and a Christmas workout

Sheena and Bryan invited us to their house for an early Christmas lunch, along with several other friends we enjoyed a superb tradition meal and Rob was taught how to say the word Gala.

The Pissouri fitness group held their final training session of the year, Instructor, Stu Burling, set out a workout using the 12 days of Christmas as a theme. After the session we all made our way to the Pissouriana for a well earned drink.

Pete's 65th Birthday and The Village Square' Christmas lights

We  were kindly invited by Pete and Gilly to Pete's 65 th birthday bash that was held at the Hillview restaurant here in Pissouri. The birthday cake was a representation of Pete's car, which has a unique paint job.




























This years Christmas decorations have been put up in the village square and this year we have a real tree as the centre piece.

PRA Christmas dinner and The Drains

The PRA (Pissouri residents Association ) held their Christmas dinner at the Hillview restaurant.  A lovely meal was followed by live music from the superb Dominic Holmes.

We woke up this morning to find our local council workers had begun work on a new drainage system on the road outside our house. We had no pre warning about this  and the workman had the cheek to connect their water hose to our standpipe  to use on their cutting machine without asking for permission.

On Wednesday we made out way down to The Vineleaf restaurant in Pissouri bay where they are now serving traditional Fish and Chips.

Christmas quiz and Pine Bay Lunch

The first Christmas event took place on Friday evening with a dinner and quiz at The Hillview restaurant in Pissouri. A large turnout resulted in nineteen teams entering the quiz, our team, The KP nuts , finished in a respectable 3rd place.   

 On Sunday we popped over to the Pine bay club to attend their Christmas lunch, Yes its still November, a lovely meal was followed by some great entertainment by "The Blues brothers"

Barry White Tribute Act in Pissouri Bay

The Yialos tavern was the venue for a "Barry White" tribute act. The Soul man performed an outstanding set and soon had the crowd on it feel with all the old hits.

New drainage and The Grapevine Magazine

This week the village council began work on a  new drainage system that is being installed just below our house. The drainage is needed to control the flow flow of rainwater which in the past has caused subsidence in the area.










Our recently taken photograph of a Honey Buzzard has been used on the cover of a local Cypriot magazine.
