The house on Liberty Street.

moved into our new apartment on Liberty street in Pissouri. As soon as we saw this apartment we loved it.

We now live in heart of the village and from our balcony we have Panoramic views over Akrotiri Bay and the snow capped Troodos mountains.

We now live next to the family who own the apartment, the family is Theo and his wife Xenia and there 2 daughters Rafiella and Maria.

Return to Cyprus

We flew from Manchester (UK) to Paphos with Thomas cook, the plane as very cramped but the four and a half hour flight flight was smooth.

We were met at the airport by our friends Mike and Steph who took us to the Pissouri residents club for a welcome drink, we also met up with "Simmo" who won the sweepstake about the date of our return to Cyprus which earned him a few quid.

Shipping out.

We have arrived on our final day in the UK, yesterday the packers/movers arrived and Richard and Kevin packed over 100 boxes of household goods.

This morning the container is due to arrive and all our belongings will be loaded and sent by sea to Cyprus.

So for a few days we are homeless, which is a strange feeling, but tomorrow we start our journey to Cyprus. Hopefully this blog will continue when we reach the Island.

Final Weekend in Wenvoe

On our final weekend we have been busy with final packing, selling our cars and cleaning unwanted goods from the house. Mandy has spent here days thoroughly cleaning the house.

Rob went out with all his old friends for a farewell drink, they all met up in Cardiff Bay at "The Packet"pub . A good time was had by all and it was made even more enjoyable when Wales beat England at Rugby.

As I write this post it is 2.30 am and the Moving and packing team are due here in a couple of hours, my mind can't rest at the moment trying to think of last minute details.

Farewell to Sunny Leckwith

Last night we took a trip to Leckwith to say goodbye to our friends Karen, Sean and their son Liam.

We enjoyed a very good meal and laughed until tears rolled down our cheek as we reminisced about old times, especially the old story of Sean and Rob's visit to the United Nations building in New York. Liam proudly showed off his WWF wrestling belts.

Final week

We are now just over a week before the removal men and our shipping container arrives, this week we sold Mandy's car and gave furniture to one of our friend's son's who moving into his first apartment, we cannot believe how much "stuff" we have gathered in the 4 1/2 years we have lived here in Wenvoe, we have thrown out countless bags to the refuse man.

This coming weekend we have organised a couple of farewell gatherings with our friends and family, I just have to make sure these events don't clash with this weekend rugby match against England.

The Big step

Well, we have just moved our plans forward, we have sold our house and ordered a container to take our belongings to Cyprus at the end of March 2007. So now we are in the process of selling unwanted furniture, cars, household goods etc.

Now it is time to book our final flights to Cyprus and organise a couple of farewell parties.

This weekend we had a meal with our family to tell them our latest news, somehow some of Pat's old wigs came out and silliness previeled.

Now here are three characters that you would'ent want to meet in a dark Alley !

Snow arrives in Wales

Well we have now hit a cold spell here in South Wales, 13cm of snow fell last night causing the usual disruptions.

We have a prospective buyer for our house, the lady made an offer and we accepted, so its now in the hands of the legal teams, fingers crossed that we have no mishaps.

Our friends in Pissouri, Steph and Mike, rang us last night to check on us and remind us that it is still warm in Cyprus......swines !

Back in the UK and Ogmore

We have returned home and decided that Cyprus is where we want to live. Our first move was to put our house on the market and there has already been some interest, so fingers crossed that the sale goes through smoothly.

There are alot of other matters to organise in this move, so its time to get our organising caps on and begin the process. One of the first things we have to do is organise a container to ship our belongings over to Cyprus.

This past weekend we visited the beautiful South Wales coastline at Ogmore.

Final days in Pissouri

Well here we are in the final days of our 3 Month trip to Cyprus, we have had a wonderful time, made so many good friends, been to so many interesting places, learnt a great deal about living in Cyprus and the sun shone most of the time.

The people we have met out have been wonderful, so friendly and helpful and full of hospitality.

We both feel that this is the place we want to live, so when we go home on Saturday we will try to sell our house and make plans for a permanant move to Cyprus.

So we will continue this blog when we return to the U.K.

Stormy weather

Winter weather arrived in Cyprus with a vengeance this weekend with heavy rain and high winds lashing our area.

One of the large trees in our back garden came crashing down during last nights storm.

Lunch in Omodos

We took off to the mountains and the picturesque village of Omodos, we went with several friends from Pissouri and had lunch at The Katoi restaurant. Omodos village is full of traditional houses and old buildings.

You can wander through the many small lanes that meander through the village The main street still has its original cobblestones. The area is famous for its wineries and we all agreed that we must return on a wine tour.

Mandy's Birthday

This week has found us on a shopping expedition to Limassol, the reason Mandy’s Birthday. We then went to Peyia for a lovely meal at Sophie’s restaurant.

We have also been looking around various apartments and houses with a view to long term renting on our proposed return to the Island.

The weather has been so good here this Winter, we are still able to take walks in glorious sunshine. The only drawback to this is the lack of rainfall for the Island this Winter, leaving the reservoirs at low levels.

"Biscuits"leaving party

Our friend, Chris, who is in the armed forces has been posted back to the UK, so a leaving party was held for him.

The theme of the party was “This is Your Life”, complete with amusing photographs taken throughout his life shown on a overhead projection screen.

There was a very good turnout of Chris’s co -workers and friends and everyone had a good old time and enjoyed a splendid buffet.

New Years Day 2007

We spent part of New Years day walking along the beach front at Pissouri, though the weather was a bit mixed, it was great to be out in the fresh air. We then had to decide when we were going to return to the UK, so we hit the internet and booked our flights for end of January.

We then headed home to try one of Arthur’s famous home made curries.

New Years eve 2006

Happy New Year

We ended the year at a fancy dress party at our local bar, The Pissouriana, there was over 130 people attending and some very good fancy dress costumes. Mandy dressed a as Nun and Rob dressed as Elvis.

A large buffet was laid out and we also had Haggis and tatties at Midnight. We left the party at 4.00am but we were told that it went on until 7.00am.
