Winter Sunshine

On a warm Winter's day we made the hours drive to Larnaca, this town has a great seafront Avenue and lots of people were enjoying the November sunshine.

We strolled over to to St Lazarus church and saw one cheeky cat amongst the Pigeons. We also noticed an unusual Christmas tree made out of old clothes and tights.

Autumn Day in Paphos and Hill Racing

On a beautiful Autumn Sunday morning we drove down to Paphos harbour, as we parked the car we could here the sound of live music coming from the harbour, so we made our way over and listened to a superb band playing Greek music.

The harbour was a hive of activity and the cafes and restaurant were doing a roaring trade. We made our way toward the breakwater where the local fishing boats moor up and watched the fishermen repair their nets.

   

Meanwhile back in Pissouri village the "Bay road" was closed off to allow a day of Hill racing.

Fish and Chips and Land slippage.

We made our first visit to the Village's New Fish and chip restaurant, the interior has been designed by the owner, Steve, and looks very impressive.
The menu was extensive and the food was delicious.

The Plaice in the Square and a Super Yacht in Limassol.

On a mild Sunday Morning we made our way over to Limassol Marina where the Super Yacht "Queen K" was berthed. Sadly we could not get close enough for a good look at it, but even from a distance it looked very impressive.

The Queen K was built in 2004 and its length is 72m/ 238 ft, she can reach a maximum speed of 18 knots and cruises comfortably at 16 knots. She has a range of 5000 nautical miles from her 250000-litre fuel tanks.

Pissouri's latest restaurant, A Plaice in the Square, has just opened in the centre of the village, we wish Steve and his staff all the best for the success of Pissouri's newest enterprise.

Jude News, 9 Years in Cyprus

Hey Jude.......is just over a month old and joins in the Halloween Festivities.

November the first marks our Ninth anniversary of living on the Island of Cyprus. We both agree that those years have flown by and we have met some lovely people during our time on the Island.

Below is a short film showing our visit to Havana, Cuba earlier this year.

Summer Ends and Little Plates

The Summer weather came to a shuddering end on the 22nd of October when a huge electrical storm swept over Cyprus and lasted for a number of hours turning roads into rivers and sweeping huge amounts of debris into the village.

On Friday evening we made our way over to Limassol with Viv and Tony to visit the Ta Piatakia (Little Plates) restaurant. The food is actually served on little plates and is a kind of Tapas. The food was very good and the owner/chef, Roddy Damalis , made us feel very welcome.

Wales Qualify for Euros 2016

After 58 years of waiting , Wales finally qualify for the finals of a major football tournament. Even though the team went down to a 2-10 defeat in Bosnia-Herzegovina, other results went the right way for the Welsh team. Manager, Chris Coleman can now start preparing for next year's Euro Championships in France.

HTC phone and Iceland

Rob came into the modern digital World this Month by getting a HTC smart phone, the first thing he did was try out the camera on the phone, some of the results can be seen below.

Meanwhile back in the UK, Lisa decided , along with a group of friends, to take a trip to Reykjavik in Iceland 

Charlotte's Christening

We were fortunate enough to be invited to this Special day to celebrate the Christening of "Lottie". The day started at St. Pauls pillar church in Pahos.
As we approached the church we could hear the sound of a lone piper playing outside this impressive church. 

Lottie was a very happy little girl during the service as she looked over her Mum's shoulder and smiled and giggled at the congregation.




















The guests then returned to the Hillview restaurant in Pissouri to continue the celebrations, after a lovely meal , we heard some wonderful heartfelt speeches from the top table.

The guests were then invited onto the dance floor for some traditional Scottish Ceilidh dancing.

Mario Kombou brought his tribute act "The Elvis Years" to Pissouri Amphitheatre last night, with his powerful voice, Mario, entertained the crowd in a Three hour show with a number of costume changes.

Jude Update - 2 Weeks old

Lee and Sarah took Baby Jude home and he got to meet  his Auntie Lisa and Granny Pat.

On Friday we Skyped Jude and his parents, it was lovely to see the little fella and we learned a lot more about him.
