On our first day in Las Palmas we woke to blue skies and warm sunshine, so the day started with a long walk along las Canteras seafront.
The promenade is well laid out and great for people watching. We stopped off at a sand sculpture park where there was a Christmas theme to these stunning works of art.
We then headed over to the port to take in all the various vessels. There was a cruise ship in port, so there were plenty of people milling about.
We then took a break for lunch in Santa Catalina park where we ordered tapas and paella.
In the evening we stopped off at Gran Terraza Lolita Pluma and joined the locals who were watching El Classico, the football match between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
We then dined at the Italian restaurant, "Little Italy " that overlooks the port.
