Our Wedding Anniversary

We decided to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary by spending a long weekend in the Northern town of Kyrenia. Our base in Kyrenia was The Ship hotel. The hotel sits between the old harbour and the dramatic Pentadaktylos mountain range.

The bustling, picturesque harbour of Kyrenia is a a magnet for visitors but still remains some charm and has a variety of restaurants dotted along the front. At one end of the harbour is the imposing Kyrenia castle with its museum that hold one of the earliest shipwrecks ever found.

The ruins of Bellapais Abbey are situated just East of Kyrenia. The Abbey was built between 1158 and 1205. Bellapais Abbey in Northern Cyprus (or 'Abbaye de la Paix', as it was originally known) is one of the most excellent examples of Lusignan period Gothic architecture.

We visited the stunning remains of St Hillarion Castle which was built around the 10th Century. The climb to the higher parts of the castle is a quite steep but the views into the valley and town below are well worth it.

Jan’s Birthday

We gathered at the 1911 club for a surprise birthday party for Jan. Theo cooked up a superb Chicken and Pork souvla meal and Sheena made 2 lovely cakes.

Every one was in high spirits and a good time was had by all, especially the  birthday girl. No Music so thankfully No dancing..she'll kill me when she reads this.

A Summer’s wedding

Robin and Diane kindly invited us to the Wedding dinner of their son Jason and his new wife Palbinder. The happy couple were married in Paphos and returned to Pissouri for a  pool side buffet.

In the evening a champagne reception was held at The Hillview restaurant where the guests enjoyed a splendid meal.

Hen Party for Palbinder

Cyprus night in Pissouri square was the setting for the pre wedding hen party of Palbinder.

Mandy and the girls met up the 1911 club for drinks before moving onto the Vraka restaurant for an evening of music, laughs and dancing.

Last Cruise of the season

We drove into Pafos to join the Wavedancer boat for the evening cruise. The evenings are starting to draw in slightly and it was dark as we left the harbour.

A cool evening breeze made for ideal conditions as we enjoyed the buffet and onboard entertainment.

Limassol wine festival

Along with a number of Pissouri residents we took a coach into the town of Limassol for their annual wine festival. Their were numerous wine stands offering free samples of their wine and other local products.

The large crowd were entertaind by local dancers, bands and singers. Under a clear sky on a warm and humid evening we enjoyed a suovla dinner and bottles of local wine.
