Moonlight at the Hillview, Anoyra and kouklia

Along with a few friends we strolled over to the Hillview restaurant at the top Pissouri.  We enjoyed a wonderful meal which was enhanced by the moon rising over Pissouri bay, changing from pink to a shining white.

On Sunday we drove up to a friend's house in the village of Anoyra. The views from the terrace are superb. Even though the views were a little hazy we could still see Pissouri in the distance.

On yet another a very warm Thursday evening we popped over to the village of Kouklia to see their weekly "Cyprus night" show. The village closes off the roads around the village square where the show takes place with the the local lit up church as a backdrop.
We chose "Gabriel's" taverna to have a meze dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the show from their veranda.

Escaping the heatwave

Cyprus continues with its Summer heatwave and to take advantage of the coastal breezes we headed over to Kyrenia beach restaurant.

The number of kite surfers on the water seems to be growing on every visit but their colourful kites do make for a picturesque backdrop.

The heatwave continued throughout the week with temperatures reaching 38 degrees C.
On Friday afternoon,  clouds of humidity rolled in from the sea all through the afternoon.

Wildfires and A tribute Act

A nasty wildfire broke out last night just outside Pissouri betweem the villages of  Plataniskia and Avdimou . The fire was finally brought under control  by fire fighting helicopters who used seawater to douse the blaze.

The Island of Cyprus has suffered by a number of nasty Wild fires this week and sadly some of the fires are thought to have been started deliberately. On the weekend one of the worst fires to hit Cyprus in the last fifty years took hold North of Limassol and caused a huge amount of damage including several properties and the tragic loss of four Lives.

On a warm Saturday evening the "Golden girls" organised another evening out at the Pissouri  amphitheatre. This time the tribute was to Gary Barlow, performed by Davey Nicholls.

Sadly the evening was poorly attended because it clashed with England playing in the 2020 Euros, but the girls thoroughly enjoyed their evening out.
