Flavs fly out.

On their final full day of their holiday, we took the Flavs around to Mike & Steph's house for "drinks and Nibbles". We had a great time swopping stories mostly involving South Wales.

All to soon it was time to tak Lisa, Lee and Pat back to the airport for their flight back to "The Diff" (Cardiff.) We had all enjoyed a great Christmas holiday.

Christmas Day

Pre dinner drinks were taken at the Pissouriana where a large crowd gathered to exchange festive greetings.
We then returned home for a superb Christmas dinner cooked by Mandy.
In the evening some friends called around to watch home made DVD’s and some daft game involving Bart Simpson.

Christmas eve

We drove into Limasssol for some last minute shopping and to show the Flavs around the town.

In the evening we strolled down to the 1911 club to wish Theo our best wishes and then moved onto the Sparti pub where a roaring log fire kept the old place cosy.

Christmas Sunday

Along with the Flavs and Steve & Mary we went up to the Hillview restaurant for a pre Christmas meal and to celebrate Mary's birthday.
As ever the meal and service were superb, Lisa even got her chocolate cake.

A taste of Africa

We drove into Limassol to attend Mandy's works Christmas party which was held at the Takokkalakia restaurant (www.takokkalakia.com) which has a unique décor and African ambience.

Fancy dress party 2007

Our friends Tina & Paul threw a Christmas fancy dress party at their house in Pissouri, a suckling pig and a huge buffet was supplied for the numerous guests.

Father Christmas was also there to hand out gifts to the children.

There was a good turn out of costumes and your Blog hosts won first prize dressed as Lily savage and Elvis.
Everyone who attened had a whale of a time, but the question remains, why did Steve arrive home wearing only one shoe ???

Carols in the square.

On a cold evening we strolled in the village square to listen to local residents and children sing traditional Christmas carols. The local mulled wine and mince pies helped to keep us Warm.

Speeches by local dignitaries was followed by draw of the grand raffle. Our friends Steve & Mary had a good evening by winning 2 prizes including a meal at a local fish restaurant. We then returned home for a spicy home made curry.

“Plastic bag trees“.

We visited Giles and Val Day's house to attend the launch party of Valerie's first book "Plastic bag trees".

The book is a tale of everyday village life in Pissouri and other Cyprus phenomena. Val is Hon secretary of the Paphos writer's group.

Charity fun Night

The Pissorianna was the venue for a Charity fun night to raise funds for the Pissouri Cyclepaths group who are planning to cycle around Cyprus in aid of the Paphos hospice.

The evening’s events included quizzes, virtual tenpin bowling, pool, guess Big Paul’s weight and a Grand Raffle.

Andy Evans took the honours as he volunteered to have his hair chest removed by waxing, it looked painful.

Steve’s Birthday Bash

Our friend, Steve, celebrated his birthday by hosting a meze meal at The Two Friends restaurant.
Fourteen people turned up to wish the "Birthday Boy" all the best, but we still could'ent get his real age out of him.

The only disappointment of the evening was that the Sparkling candles on his birthday cake did'ent sparkle.

A quiet evening turned into a long one as we moved onto the Pissouriana for a few late night drinks.

New Gym, Olives and Welsh Gold

This month the Serenity gym and Spar (www.serenity Cyprus.com) opened in the village, we wish them every success.

This week were given a bucket of olives from a friend's tree and are in the process of preparing them in brine in time for Christmas.

Our friends Pam & Arthur returned a visit to Cardiff and brought back a drop of Welsh Gold.

Bonfire Night

We celebrated Guy Fawkes night by visiting the British Army base at Episkopi. At Lemmings beach the huge crowd that gathered were entertained by the lighting of a huge bonfire followed by an impressive firework display. Even though the evening was mild we still used it as an excuse to try out a few glasses of mulled wine.

Also entertaining the crowd were The pipe band of The Queen's Royal hussars were there playing some stirring tunes.

Paul’s Birthday

This weekend we went up to Paul and Tina’s impressive six bedroom house to attend Paul’s birthday party. The weather in the evening was still warm enough to hold the celebration outside.

The centre of a superb buffet was a roasted suckling pig.

Leaving party

In a odd turn of events we marked one year of living in Cyprus by going to a leaving party. Ourfriends, Eileen and Peter, are heading back to the UK to live and held their party at the 1911 club to say goodbye all of their friends.

In the evening we strolled over to the Pissouri amphitheatre to see the Cowbridge Male voice choir (from Wales) perform a concert.
