Don't Panic Mr Mannering

Well after my last post about clearing the scrub land, it was a bit of a surprise to look out of the window this evening and see the hill opposite ablaze.

A few of the local residents tried in vain to get the flames under control. The local fire brigade arrived after 30 minutes and soon got contol of the fire before it reached nearby properties.

Clearing the Scrub and a visit to The Giraffe

With the ever present worry of bush fires breaking out, it was good to see the scrub land next our house being cleared by a JCB.

As the temps climb into the 30's we decide to cool  off by visiting the new sport/music bar that has opened in the village. "The Giraffe" pub is being run by a couple of British guys and we wish then all the best in their new venture.

New Patio at The High Chaparral and The Jubilee @ 1911

Rob decided to lay  a new patio outside our new home ( renamed "The High Chaparral" by a friend.) For the Grand opening we were lucky enough to be blessed with the presence of the Lady of the household.

In the afternoon we popped over to the 1911 club who were holding their QE II Jubilee Party. We managed to win second place in the Mr & Mrs competition ( despite the "Scratching his bits" answer)

A good crowd turned up, a superb buffet was laid on and the afternoon's activities had the residents in fits of laughter.

Party In The Park

To Celebrate QE II Diamond Jubilee we made our way to the British Army base in Episkopi to attend the annual Party in the Park. On a beautiful Summer's evening a large crowd and some great musical entertainment  made for a superb night out.

The entertainment was provided by The Cover Notes, International duo, RAF college band and the tribute act Queen Alive.
