Christmas Day 2011

Christmas day started  with a giggle at  "Scuba Steve's"  Dive song.

On a breezy morning we trooped down to Pissouri bay for some fresh sea air. To begin the celebrations we had Bacon and sausage sarnies washed down with a couple of bottles of bubbly .
The braver members of the group tested out the sea temps with a paddle and Colin nearly lost his shorts..

Along with Steve & Mary, Colin & Deb we then popped into our local pub to wish our fellow villagers a Merry Christmas, then it was back home for a traditonal Turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Plenty of friends turned up to make sure that the birthday girl's party went with a swing.

FOG Quiz

We popped over to the Pissouriana to take part in the annual Friends of the Guides Christmas quiz. Our team, "Mary's Hairy Fairies", came in second place, beaten by half a point.

The turning point, in my opinion, was when our esteemed Captain (4D) was asked who led the peasant revolt in 1381, instead of answering Wat Tyler he plumped for Oliver Cromwell, who  sadly was not born until over 200 years after that event !

Christmas Carols in the Square

To begin the Christmas festive season, the Ladies of Pissouri went for a meal to the Platea restaurant in the village square, they then moved on to the "Red Fever pub".

The following evening we wandered down to the village square to enjoy the PRA Christmas celebrations. The local school childrem sang carols, the guests were served mulled wine and warm snacks, Father Christmas distributed gifts and the PRA drew their Grand raffle.

A visit to A&E

After trapping my hand I had my first chance to try out the local general hospital, first stop was the accident and emergency unit. After a lengthy wait we were ushered into the unit and told an X-ray was needed. Returning to the A&E ward we were told to wait in a treatment cubicle.

The main doctor then said that the finger was broken and now needed stitching, he proceeded to insert 8 stitches around the top of the finger,  sadly he saw no need to use a local anesthetic and the pain was pretty intense. We returned to the hospital today to see the orthopedic doctor to discuss the fracture, he advised me to let nature take its course and leave it be.
