Family Visitors from Birmingham

Mark, Emma, Jemma and James flew in from Birmingham. The Cypriot sunshine came as a welcome relief from a rain soaked UK.

Cooling off in the pool was a first day priority.

Mary travelled to Italy to attend her brother's wedding. The ceremony took place in the Tuscany region.

Ayia Napa

Driving from the crowds at Ayia Napa, we headed over to the undeveloped peninsula of Cape Greco. This is an area of spectacular rock formations, large sea caves and some superb views.

A short drive North took us to Protaros is well know for its sandy beach and clear water at Fig Tree Bay and time for us to take a cooling swim in the sea.

Heading West we stopped off at the village of Kalavassos, which is regarded as one of the oldest villages in Cyprus.

Close to Kalvassos is Choirokoitia, which is a Neolithic village that dates back to the 9th Millenium B.C. This World heritage site is still undergoing excavation and a replica of the Neolithic village has been constructed on site.

Our final stop was at the coastal village Zigi has several seafood restaurants and we enjoyed a fresh fish meze at Mario’s

A trip to Eastern Cyprus

Along with our friends, Steve & Mary, we decided to spend a weekend exploring the Eastern side of Cyprus, we made our base in the town of Larnaca.

On our first day we drove over to Potomos, (Potamos in Greek means creek.) On a small sea inlet there is a hidden fishing shelter with numerous small, brightly coloured boats that land their catches on rickety pontoons.

We then moved onto the resort of Ayia Napa, with is numerous themed bars and crowded beaches, we stayed long enough for a cool drink and a spot of people watching.

The Abba Dabbado tribute band played at the Pissouri Amphitheartre. A large crowd and a terrific family atmosphere made for great night.

One member of the audience did make a numpty of themselves, the question is, was the Milk Tray Man ivolved yet again ?
