We took a drive up to the Troodos mountains to check out the snow conditions, although there was a large amount of snow the roads were clear all the way up to Mount Olympus.

The Ski resort was very busy as large numbers of the locals enjoyed the conditions.

9. Lisa flew from Australia to New Zealand, where along with several friends she hired a RV to tour the countryside. They made their way to Lake Taupo which is a well known Volcanic region.

Next stop on the journey was Queenstown, which is known for its numerous lakes and Alpine resort.  Travel Blog

Mandy's Birthday 2011

The 1911 club was the venue for Mandy's 50 th Birthday Bash.

A good crowd turned out to wish Mandy a Happy Birthday, there was a great atmoshphere in the club with plenty of Laughs and good music to dance the night away.

Mandy even had her own personal "kissogram" to help things go with a swing.

Taking advantage of the recent fine weather, we decided to hike around the  the village of Sotira, which lies NW of Limassol, we made our way through the pine trees heading towards the village of Zanatzia.

We then moved onto the Village of Souni, where a huge amount of new building work was in progress. We noticed that someone in the village was a collector of VW vehicles. 

 

We passed through Souni and made our way through a couple of pine covered valley's, our final destination was to be the Kouris Dam, but  from this direction it was impassable due to the terrain.

A trip up North for Mandy's Birthday

To celebrate Mandy's birthday we took a trip to Northern Cyprus, our base for the visit was The Malpas Hotel. We were joined by several friends who helped the birthday girl see in her Landmark birthday. Mary baked her first cake which the guests thought was superb.

In the evening we made our way up to the village of Catalkoy and found a very warm welcome in the village bar from its owner, Adnan.

The next day we went for a drive along the picturesque Northern coastline, ending up at the village of Kayalar. We then returned to the harbour at Girne and enjoyed the Winter sunshine. One of our party savoured his first virgin Irish coffee.

8. Lisa arrived in Sydney just in time for the New Year Celebrations, along with friends they made there way up to a park overlooking Sydney harbour to watch the superb firework display on New Year's Eve. She also attended the   Summafieldays music festival on the Gold Coast.

   








From Sydney Lisa flew to Brisbane to catch up with friends, in Brisbane she saw, what she described, as one of the greatest storms she's ever seen.

A Happy and Healthy New Year to all our Family, friends and visitors to the Blog.

We started off the final day of 2010 with a 20 km hike from Curium Beach to Limassol Port via the salt marshes near Akrotiri.

In the Evening we were kindly invited to Darren and Michelle's house to see in the New Year with friends from the village.
