After reading so much publicity about the chocolate festival in Platres we decided to check it out , so along with Pam, we drove up to the Troodos.
What a disappointment it was, there was hardly a chocolate in sight.
We decided to drive down to the picturesque of village of Omodos to celebrate Pam's birthday . We made our way through the narrow cobbled streets to the Katoi restaurant where we enjoyed a lovely lunch.

A Day at the Races in Nicosia
On a beautiful Summer's day we joined the locals of The First and Last pub for a day out at Nicosia racecourse. The coach journey took about 1 1/2 hours and when we arrived at the racetrack we were shown into a lovely air conditioned marquee.
After a lovely lunch we got down to serious buisness of trying to back a few winners, we did not have much luck until the 5th race when "Boomereas" came bounding in to give our first win of the day.
Our luck continued in the next race when "Dream Girl" romped home to give us our second win of the day.

New Dust cloud Warning and a Indian meal.
After several days of heavy dust covering the Island we have now been warned that there is a Red dust storm moving in from The Sahara.
A number of flights have been diverted from Larnaca airport to Paphos due the conditions in the Eastern side of Cyprus.
For those interested in the power of a sand storm, take a look at this video that was filmed in Jeddah and just watch how quickly day turns to night.
On Friday evening we went down to The Saffron Indian restaurant in Pissouri Bay with a number of friends and enjoyed a wonderful meal, Thanks to Faruque and all of his staff at the Saffron.
