Eastern Cyprus Day 3

Another hot day in Cyprus and we drove out to Vrysoudia beach, a beautiful sheltered cove, there is a large hotel at the end of this beach but once again it was empty.

Our next stop was at Kalamies beach a few minutes drive South. This area is split into two sections, first is the small but busy harbour and further on is the picturesque bay of Kalamies.

We stopped off at the local restaurant for a frappe where we met the owner who was most helpful and chatty. We the drove further South to Nissi beach but the roads were packed with locals with the same idea, so we headed back to Paralimni for a lunch of Fish and chips at The Baker Arms.

In the evening we made our way over to the cliffs overlooking Fireman bay where we sat and watched the sunset.

Eastern Cyprus Day 2

Our first stop was an early morning visit to Trinity beach, a small well kept, secluded cove.

We then moved onto one of the most famous beaches in Cyprus, Fig tree bay. Even though there are few foreign visitors this beach was crowded by mid morning.

We then stopped off a a very small but picturesque Mimosa cove. It was noticeable the number of hotels, bars and restaurants that were closed due to the lack of overseas visitors due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

We then drove over to Cape Greko at the South East corner of Cyprus with its beautiful views of the Blue lagoon.

We had a light lunch at The Baker arms and then spent a relaxing afternoon on Trinity beach.

In the evening we popped over to Firman beach and had a drink at Kohili beach bar as we watched the sunset over the Mediterranean.

A visit to the Eastern side of Cyprus. Day 1.

We decided to have a short break by spending the weekend on the Eastern coast of Cyprus. Our base for our stay was the small town of Paralimni. Its about a an hour and 46 minute drive from Pissouri to Paralimni and the highway was fairly quiet once we had passed Limassol.

Arriving in Paralimni our first stop was for a snack at Malama beach at the Kalifi cafe that overlooks the turquoise sea.

After checking into our apartment we took the short drive over to Fireman's beach.

This small, crescent shaped beach is a delight with all the amenities that you need. We snagged a couple of sunbeds and headed into the cooling waters of the Mediterranean.

In the evening we stopped off at a couple of local watering holes, Kennedy's an the Pig and whitsle before enjoying a lovely meal at Magazaki restaurant.

MEU 3

This week we made our way down to the immigration office in Limassol to apply for our new permanent residency certificate.

Due to the Covid 19 restrictions only a certain amount of people were allowed in the building at the same time. This meant along with other customers we had to endure a long wait outside in the hot sun.

One we got inside the process seemed pretty straightforward as we made sure that we prepared our paperwork  carefully.

Restaraunts and Shopping Malls Reopen

The bars and restaurants in Cyprus are begining to open after our period in Lockdown, so we decided to have Sunday lunch at The Bunch of Grapes. The restaurant is situated in the heart of Pissouri village, has a wonderful covered courtyard and the food is excellent.

On Tuesday  the Shopping Malls reopened, as we were  in Limassol we went over to the "My Mall" center. It was something of a surreal experience, watching people stand in line to enter the shops wearing face masks and the staff wearing full face shields.
