Alex Mancell at The Bay Tree and Ron's 80th Birthday.

On a Lovely Summer's evening, we popped down to The Bay Tree bar in Pissouri bay to listen to the talented Alex Mancell. The beer garden had a good crowd and Alex put on a great show. We then popped over to the new "Bay Chippy" for a take away supper.

We met up with Ron and Ursi at Michael's Steakhouse in Pissouri to Celebrate Ron's 80th Birthday. The Birthday boy was on fine form, we all enjoyed a wonderful meal, a few drinks and plenty of laughs.

UB40 Tribute, Village Fire and The Cicadas return.

Another Saturday evening and another tribute band playing at the Pissouri amphitheatre. This time it was "Rats in the Kitchen" playing the hits of UB40, some Ska and Bob Marley. There was not a large crowd inside the Amphitheatre,  but those who attended enjoyed the music and the dance floor was full.

A car caught fire on the highway just outside the village and the fire spread to the surrounding fields, thankfully the Pissouri volunteer firefighters soon had the blaze under control.

It a Cicada year, which means that our chirping, jumping little friends are making one hell of a racket . They have not been around for a few years and it seems as if they are making up for lost time because at times the noise they make is quite deafening.

ABBA tribute, landslide works and apricots

 The Pissouri amphitheatre was the venue for the ABBA tribute act, ABBA Alike. On a very  warm evening, A very good crowd turned out and the band soon had them dancing to all the old hits.

                                                                      

On Friday we went for meal with our friends, Miak and Tina, to The Hideaway taverna in Pissouri and had a very good meal and a lovely evening. From Mike and Tina's house you get a good view of the huge building project that hopes to halt the landslide that has blighted part of the village.

There is an abundance of Apricots this Summer, so Mandy has been busy making cakes, flans and saving some for the Winter months.

WestZone and New Recycling Laws

Another Saturday, another Boy band in the Pissouri Amphitheatre. This time is was WestZone. The lads performed a slick act of all the favourite, it was just a pity that there was not a bigger crowd in attendance.

                                                                   

New recycling laws come in on the 14th June, all households have been issued with various coloured refuse bags and we are now obliged to recycle paper, glass, plastic items. It will be interesting to see how this works out on the Island.

    

Take That , Jubilee Parties and Wales into the World cup

The Boyband tribute act,"TAKE THAT" played a show at the Pissouri amphitheatre. Along with a few girlfriends, Mandy said that the show was excellent and that the was a terrific atmosphere inside the theatre.

The following  day the UK residents of Pissouri held a Jubilee street party down at the 1911 club, there was a huge turn out and the guests were entertained by a singing duo and the comedy  act of the "nutty boy"

Back in the UK, the family enjoyed their Jubilee celebrations with a street part of their own. It seemed as if the whole street turned out to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. 

And last, but by no means least, a mention of the Welsh football team who made it through to the 2022 World cup finals with a play off win against Ukraine.

A Beatles tribute and Cari's 5th Birthday

 On a very warm, early Summer's evening   Mandy joined Tania and Pete to watch a "Beatles duo" tribute act. Although the event was not that well attended, the duo kept the audience entertained  with all the old hits.

                                      

Back in the UK, our Goddaughter, Cari, celebrated her  fifth birthday with a family gathering at her Auntie Lisa's house.

Cari had lots of gifts, a special cake and even won a dance off competition with her brother, Jude. Here in Cyprus we managed to join the party via a video call.
