Johan arrives from Sweden

This weekend we drove to Larnaca to collect Mandy's son, Johan, who flew in from Sweden for a weeks holiday in Cyprus. Johan flew from Stockholm to LCA with Norwegian airlines, he had a smooth flight and used the onboard Wifi for the first time.

 

                              The weather forecast looks good for the next week.

First stop was to start working on that tan down at Pissouri Bay Beach, we then popped over to The "Pissouri Bay" bar for a cooling drink and watch the Swansea v Man Utd football game.










The Next day we drove up to the village of Latchi. We had a spot of breakfast in the Marina an then we joined the pleasure boat "Alkion 2" for a trip along the North West coast of Cyprus. The boat stopped off at the "Blue Lagoon" and that gave us chance for cooling swim in the beautiful turquoise water.

Back on dry land we then made our way along the coast to The Souli hotel for lunch and Johan enjoyed a dish of the local Octapus.

Starlight Rock and Roll show

On Friday evening we mad our way down to the Amphitheartre to watch the "Starlight" Rock'n' Roll show. Sadly there was a pretty poor turn out of spectators but the band and singers put on a good show.

A marriage invitation, a Driving Licence and a Photo from Space

Today we bumped into our old friend, Theo, and he kindly invited to to his daughter's Wedding in the village in September. Maria will be getting married in the local church and the guests are then invited back to Theo's family home.

This week we finally joined the rest of Europe when we received our laminated Cypriot driving licences.

The local Facebook group "I Love Pissouri " are running a photographic competition on their web page and the most popular pictures will be used on local postcards. Our entry  was taken on a walk of Cape Aspro which runs along the Pissouri coastline.

A crew member from the international Space Station (ISS) has tweeted a stunning aerial photograph of Cyprus, taken as the craft passed over the region.

Samantha Cristoforetti tweeted: “Hello #‎Cyprus! And the coastline of #‎Turkey and #‎Syria on the easternmost Mediterranean shores.”

The crystal clear photo, which shows fairly heavy cloud cover for this time of year, also captures the entire island, as well as the coasts of southern Turkey, Syria and Lebanon.

Family News from South Wales

New reached us that Lisa has moved to the Welsh Village of Abercam. Lisa and Owen moved into their new home on the weekend.

Meanwhile in Rogerstone, Lee and Sarah are looking forward to the birth of their first child.

Steve Welsh at the 1911

On the weekend we popped down to the 1911 to watch the Comedian and singer, Steve Welsh. He is a very funny guy and he had us all in stitches, he also has a good voice.

Water Problems and a Blue Moon

We have had major problems in the village with our water supply due a burst water main and then a power break at the pumping station, some residents went without water for five days.








The weather forecast indicates that we are in for a heat wave at the begining of the week with temps possibly reaching the high 30's.

On a brighter note, we  had a beautiful sight of the "Blue Moon" rising over Pissouri.
