Mandria on a Winter's Day

Taking advantage of our "exercise hour" from our Covid restrictions, we drove over to Mandria beach. It was an absolutely beautiful morning to walk along the cliff's edge.

Mandy's 60th Birthday

Mandy celebrated her 60th birthday, all be it under Covid 19 restrictions. A few friends popped around  to hand over gifts, cards and their good wishes.

In the afternoon Mandy was surprised to get a Live call from Wynne Evans from his BBC Radio Wales show, they chatted on air and had a few laughs...then Wynne even sang for her "Risky Sixty"

The following day she received a beautiful wine, cheese, biscuit etc bouquet from the family in the UK.

New Covid 19 Restrictions and a mild Winter

 As of 05.00 on Sunday new restrictions regarding the Covid 19 virus come into force in Cyprus. No visitors are allowed in your home and you have to send an SMS to the Goverment if you want to leave the house. There has also been a raft of other measures introduced to try and combat the virus on the island.

One thing we have noticed this Winter  in Cyprus has been the mild weather . We have not really had any rains this Winter although rain and snow is forecast for later in the week.

Road Trip to Pelentri

 On a beautiful, January morning we drove East towards Limassol before heading North towards the Troodos mountains. We got off the beaten track and drove on the very quiet F812. This road takes in some dramatic scenery as it passes through the villages of Korfi, Kapilio and Agios Mama.

We then stopped off at Trimiklini double bridge before climbing over the Troodos to the village of Pelentri.

 The village was very quiet at this time of year but we did stop of for our picnic at a site overlooking The Holy church of the Holy cross.

Driving back to Trimiklini we took another side road, the E802 to Pera Pedi. We then joined the E803 which follows Krios valley and there are some superb views on this road and a host of wineries.  One standout view looks down on the village of Vouni.

We then carried on driving south towards Pachna and home to Pissouri after a very enjoyable day out.

A New Year begins

A Happy New Year to all our Family, Friends and Visitors to the Blog. We wish you all a peaceful and healthy 2021.

We turn a new page to another year, with the pandemic still rampant throughout the World we wonder what 2021 will bring. Obviously we hope that the new vaccines with take effect and bring us back to some kind of normality, but of course, this will take a number of Months.

As "A New life planned in Cyprus" Blog starts it 16th year, we are keeping a positive outlook and are grateful that we are healthy at the turn of the year.

Taking advantage of the glorious January weather we took a stroll around our lovely little village with its views to the sea and Troodos mountains.
