Party In The Park

To Celebrate QE II Diamond Jubilee we made our way to the British Army base in Episkopi to attend the annual Party in the Park. On a beautiful Summer's evening a large crowd and some great musical entertainment  made for a superb night out.

The entertainment was provided by The Cover Notes, International duo, RAF college band and the tribute act Queen Alive.

BBQ time and an Old Iron Cross

Summer finally arrives in Cyprus and its time to get out the BBQ.  Thanks to the tips from Ben our Australian BBQ expert our first attempt was a roaring success.
As the temps rise through the Summer months we hope to do a lot more outdoor cooking.

Searching through some old boxes I came across this 1939 Nazi Iron Cross medal, I remember getting it as a kid from a customer in my Grandfather's pub.
I made some online enquiries and found out some of its history.

Sports and Ice cream

The weekend started with  trip down to the village square and a table at Vraka to watch the F.A.Cup final.

Remaining on the sports theme, News reaches us that a new Sports bar is due to open in the village, we await with interest.

On lovely Spring day Sunday we drove over to Fasouri flea  market in  a fruitless search of a bamboo curtain and then we  joined a number of friends and went over to the Kyrena beach restaurant for Sunday lunch.

Amelia munched her way through an ice cream as a acrobatic display was held on the beach.

Moving Home with all that Vinyl

After 5 years of living in our apartment we have decided its time for a move. Our new home in Pissouri is a bungalow with stunning views over Akrotiri bay.

Boxes, boxes, boxes..... all to be packed and moved to our new home.
As Mandy says "Rob, you've got all these bloody LP records and you have'ent even got a record player"
But hey, this Vinyl is the soundtrack of my Life.

A heartfelt "Thank You" to Alan, Paul, Steve, Jan and Debs for all their help with our move, you made it so much easier.

Plenty of Water and Football

Cyprus's largest dam, Kouris, is now reported to be full and with careful use this should give the Island plenty of water for the coming months.

We popped over to the Olympus Palace restaurant to watch Local team APOEL Nicosia play their biggest match in their history by taking on the mighty Real Madrid.

Despite a  plucky performance the Cypriot side went down by 3 goals to nil.  Following a 5-2 defeat in Spain, APOEL left the tournament  after a tremendous run.

Grand Slam and St Patrick's Night

Congratulations to the Welsh rugby team for winning the 2012 Grand Slam in Cardiff by defeating France by 16-9.

We celebrated by going to  St Patrick's night party at the Pine bay club and sinking a few glasses of Guinness and having a flutter on the snail racing.
